Transfer

We will build on the successes of the first funding period by further developing and preparing for the technology transfer of Living Therapeutic Materials (LTMs). It will focus on combinations of materials, organisms, and technologies with the highest potential for clinical impact, leveraging the expertise within the Leibniz ScienceCampus (LSC).

Key objectives include:

  • Advancing fundamental understanding of LTM quality, efficacy, and safety.
  • Developing methods to demonstrate benefit-risk balance through lab and animal studies.
  • Highlighting environmental and cost benefits of zero-waste LTMs versus traditional drug production.
  • Creating assays and guidelines to build a regulatory framework for LTMs, which currently does not exist.
  • Expanding in-house knowledge on technology transfer and regulatory aspects of LTMs as cell-based therapies.
  • Training early-career scientists in unique, interdisciplinary skills such as upscaling, medical regulations, and SOPs.
  • Enhancing collaboration with industry and regulators through new consultation formats.

Overall, the Leibniz Science Campus ‘Living Therapeutic Materials’ bridge scientific innovation with practical application, fostering both regulatory readiness and workforce development in the LTM field.
